Recently we’ve been feeling that the team behind MobileRSS isn’t getting the love and attention that they deserve, so we thought we’d take a few minutes to introduce them. The people working on MobileRSS has changed a bit over the years, but currently we’re sitting pretty with a team of seven, which you’ll find listed below along with their Twitter and Weibo (Chinese Twitter) links below.

Google recently introduced an update to its password security system, called 2-Step Authentication. If you enable this feature, it means you won’t be able to use your original Google password to login to MobileRSS. Here’s what’s required if you’re interested in using this feature or are having difficulties.
Step 1: Create an Application-Specific Password for MobileRSS
Google will automatically recommend that you create passwords for applications which use your Google account, like MobileRSS.

Step 2: Enter the New Password Into MobileRSS
You’ll be shown your new password on screen (which will be long and difficult to crack) and should enter this password into MobileRSS. Enter it once and MobileRSS will remember it so you won’t have to enter it again.

Step 3: Enjoy Reading RSS Feeds
You’re done! If you continue to have problems, don’t hesitate to email us: service@nibirutech.com

We’ve created MobileRSS to be as intuitive and easy to approach as possible. But when you start adding new features and functionality, you’re bound to confuse some users. For that reason, we’ve posted answers to some of the most common questions about MobileRSS here. Click on the questions to see the answers.
- 1. What is MobileRSS? How does it work?
- MobileRSS is a Google Reader client for iPhone and iPad that lets you stay updated with all of the news and websites that are important to you. Subscribe to your favorite blogs and websites and MobileRSS will sync your mobile device with your Google Reader account. If you don’t have a Google Reader account or want to find out more about how Google Reader or RSS works, we suggest you visit Google Reader online.
- 2. How do I add new feeds to MobileRSS?
- To add new feeds, you have two options: add them via the Google Reader website (which MobileRSS will sync with automatically), or add feeds by searching for keywords within MobileRSS. To add feeds by keyword in MobileRSS, tap “Edit” from the feed/folder list and then the + symbol. Input one or several keywords which describe the feeds you’re looking for (for example: “tech”, “painting” or “politics”) and MobileRSS will suggest relevant feeds for you. Tap to subcribe and you’re all set.
Using the latest version of MobileRSS, you can also subscribe by entering the feed URL directly into the search bar. All you have to do is copy the feed address to the clipboard and paste it into MobileRSS and it'll be added.
- 3. How do I enable full screen mode?
-
For most users, you’ll find an on/off toggle for full screen mode in the settings. However, MobileRSS users still using iOS 3 might not be able to enable this option, depending on their device. This is a limitation of the outdated operating system and if this feature is important to you we recommend you upgrade to iOS 4.
- 4. How do I reveal individual feeds within a folder?
-
If you subscribe to many feeds, it’s helpful to put them inside topical folders to stay organized. As you add new feeds in Google Reader, you can opt to put them inside folders. This is something we recommend to anyone browsing a large number of feeds, or feeds of more than one category. For example you might have folders for Sports, Tech and Lifestyle, and several feeds within those folders.
To browse through RSS feeds within folders in MobileRSS, all you have to do is click the triangle next to the folder name and the feeds inside will be revealed.
- 5. How does background refresh work in MobileRSS?
-
If enabled, MobileRSS will sync in the background, with certain limitations imposed on the operating system by Apple. With this feature activated, MobileRSS will refresh automatically if restored from background activity after five minutes. However, MobileRSS will be put into a “suspended” mode after 10 minutes which will not allow automatic background refreshing. This is a limitation imposed by Apple on all applications to reduce memory usage and prevent poor performance.
- 6. What is the smiley icon at the bottom of MobileRSS in post view?
-
Tapping the smiley icon means you “liked” a post. This is a feature that MobileRSS adopted from Google Reader which lets publishers know how engaging their content is to readers. Liking a post does not affect anything else within MobileRSS or Google Reader.
- 7. How do I submit feedback?
-

It’s been a long time coming, but at last we’ve staked out a new domain and website for MobileRSS. By making this move we’re waving goodbye to our previous blog on Google’s Blogger which has nobly served its purpose for over a year.
We approach this new site with some goals that we thought we’d share with you:
Goal #1: Cultivate Greater Interaction with MobileRSS Users
Over and over again we’re reminded how important interacting with MobileRSS users is. Each day we receive dozens of e-mails from users all around the world who provide us with a mountain of useful information. Things like: how and why they use MobileRSS, what they like most about it and what features they’d like to see added. We love interacting with our users and using their comments (and criticisms) to constantly improve MobileRSS.
Goal #2: Present MobileRSS in the Best Light Possible
We want to communicate the core features and benefits of using MobileRSS as clearly and simply as possible. In order to do this, we knew that we’d have to stake out a new domain and website with an integrated blog that made interaction not just possible but easy. Since Apple doesn’t allow trials we’ve created a free version of MobileRSS for iPhone and iPad but some users still want to know more about the app before they put it onto their devices. For those users we’ve included photos and detailed information on the features and functionality of MobileRSS.
Thanks for visiting and using MobileRSS!
